Mr. Sultan Ali Lakhani was born on 24 July, 1948 in Gondia, India. After earning an Honour's degree in Economics from the Karachi University, he undertook business and He is presently Advisor, Lakson Group of Companies with its Head Office in Karachi. He is keenly interested in the international and diplomatic affairs and has visited a number of countries round the globe since 1973. He is a versatile industrialist and businessman and also the Honorary Consul of Mexico in Karachi.
Mr. Sultan Ali Lakhani was elected to the Senate of Pakistan in 1988 for a six-year term.
