SENATE SUB-COMMITTEE DISCUSSES ENHANCING MEDICAL FACILITIES AND HEALTH INSURANCE FRAMEWORK FOR EMPLOYEES

A meeting of the Sub-Committee of the Executive Committee of the Senate Secretariat Employees Welfare Fund (SSEWF) was held today at Parliament House under the convenership of Senator Aamir Waliuddin Chishti.
The meeting was attended by Senators Samina Mumtaz Zehri, Anusha Rahman, and Shahzaib Durrani, alongside Mr. Aizaz Khan, Financial Advisor to the Chairman Senate, and Senior Secretariat Officers.
The Sub-Committee reviewed current medical facilities to establish a sustainable health insurance framework. Discussions centered on expanding better medical facilities to a transparent, cashless health insurance policy covering approximately 1,300 employees and over 7,400 dependents across all pay grades.

The committee thoroughly analyzed preliminary premium figures and multi-year cost projections (minimum 5 years). The Committee also directed that future premium escalations, inflation adjustments, and annual claim ratios be strictly evaluated to safeguard public funds.
The Committee unanimously emphasized thoroughly reviewing policy fine print and terms from bidding insurance providers to guarantee seamless hospitalization and prevent coverage restrictions.
The Convener and members highlighted the need to align internal service rules with the proposed insurance model to streamline operations and prevent duplicate claims.

The Sub-Committee will continue deliberations to submit it's comprehensive recommendation report within the stipulated timeframe.
