Syedaal Khan Nasar has said that Pakistan is among the fortunate countries where nearly 60 percent of the population comprises young people, who are the country’s greatest asset and a source of hope for its future. He said that by providing youth with quality education, modern skills and access to global opportunities, Pakistan and the entire region can achieve greater development, prosperity and stability.
He expressed these views last evening while addressing, as Chief Guest in his capacity as Acting Chairman Senate, the launching ceremony of the Transnational Education Partnership between the University of Lahore and the University of Plymouth, United Kingdom, in a local hotel of Islamabad.
Syedaal Khan Nasar congratulated the University of Lahore and the University of Plymouth on this important partnership, saying that it was not merely an agreement between two educational institutions but also a significant step towards further strengthening academic and educational ties between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
He said that such partnerships provide Pakistani students with better opportunities to access world-class education, gain international exposure and acquire modern skills. “Investing in the youth of today is, in fact, an investment in Pakistan’s future,” he remarked. He added that equipping young people with modern education and technology-oriented skills would not only strengthen the national economy but also open new avenues of development, prosperity and stability across the region.
The Acting Chairman Senate welcomed the launch of academic programmes in contemporary fields including computing, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, business, law and health sciences, describing these disciplines as highly important for Pakistan’s economic and social development. He stressed that, in an era defined by artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, preparing young people in accordance with the needs of the future was a pressing necessity.
He appreciated the University of Lahore’s vision of creating international educational opportunities for Pakistani students and expressed hope that cooperation between educational institutions of Pakistan and the United Kingdom would not remain confined to degree programmes, but would be expanded to include research, innovation, faculty collaboration, entrepreneurship and student exchange programmes.
Welcoming the representatives of the University of Plymouth to Pakistan, Syedaal Khan Nasar said that education was an effective means of further strengthening relations between the two countries. He noted that joint efforts in the fields of knowledge, research and innovation would further consolidate the longstanding friendly ties between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
The Acting Chairman Senate urged students to make the most of the opportunities available to them, think globally, develop their capabilities and embrace modern technology and innovation so that they could play their role in the development and progress of the country.
He appreciated the efforts of all individuals and institutions involved in translating the partnership into reality and expressed his best wishes for the University of Lahore and the University of Plymouth. He expressed the hope that this collaboration would serve as a strong foundation for a successful and promising future for students and the education sector of both countries.
