Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, visited Eidgah Sharif in Rawalpindi.
British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ms. Jane Marriott, Federal Minister for Education Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Cryptocurrency, Bilal Bin Saqib were also present on the occasion.
The distinguished guests were warmly received by the Custodian of Eidgah Sharif, Pir Syed Muhammad Hassan Haseeb-ur-Rehman.
During the visit, Pir Syed Muhammad Hassan Haseeb-ur-Rehman briefed the Chairman Senate and the British High Commissioner on the rich history of Eidgah Sharif, its spiritual legacy, religious and social contributions, and the traditions of the Sufi order associated with the shrine. He noted that for more than a century and a half, Eidgah Sharif has served as a prominent centre of spiritual guidance, religious education, remembrance of Allah, Milad gatherings, and the promotion of Islamic values, attracting millions of devotees from Pakistan and abroad.
On the occasion, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani paid glowing tribute to the religious, spiritual, and social services of Eidgah Sharif and conveyed his best wishes to Pir Syed Muhammad Hassan Haseeb-ur-Rehman. He said that the great Sufi saints have always promoted the universal values of love, tolerance, compassion, brotherhood, mutual respect, and service to humanity—principles that remain indispensable for contemporary society.
The Chairman Senate observed that Islam is a religion of peace, love, fraternity, and mutual respect. It teaches humanity to safeguard the rights of others, strengthen unity and solidarity, and foster harmony within society. He categorically stated that terrorism, extremism, and hatred have no place in Islam, which is a faith that embodies mercy, peace, goodwill, and the well-being of all mankind.
Speaking on the country's prevailing political and economic situation, Chairman Senate said that Pakistan currently requires national unity, political stability, constitutional supremacy, and the strengthening of democratic values. He emphasized that all political stakeholders should rise above personal and partisan interests and place the national interest above all else to effectively address the challenges confronting the country. He reaffirmed that Parliament would continue to perform its constitutional role in promoting national consensus, constructive dialogue, and democratic traditions.
The Chairman Senate further underscored that economic stability, the promotion of investment, enhancement of exports, creation of employment opportunities, and the provision of maximum relief to the people are among the country's foremost priorities. He expressed confidence that through coherent policies, institutional coordination, and national unity, Pakistan would continue to make meaningful progress towards sustainable economic growth, prosperity, and long-term stability.
He further stated that combating terrorism, extremism, poverty, unemployment, and other national challenges requires collective resolve, tolerance, mutual trust, and unity among all segments of society. He expressed confidence that Pakistan's strong democratic institutions, the resilience of its people, and national cohesion would enable the country to successfully overcome every challenge.
Concluding his remarks, Chairman Senate expressed the hope that spiritual institutions such as Eidgah Sharif would continue to play a vital role in promoting love, tolerance, religious harmony, interfaith respect, and national unity, thereby contributing to a peaceful, progressive, and cohesive Pakistan.
