The Pakistan High Commission in London, in collaboration with The Bank of Punjab, organized an exclusive event titled “Unlocking Diaspora Capital” at the Pakistan High Commission on 22 June 2026, bringing together members of the Pakistani diaspora, policymakers, and financial sector leaders to explore investment opportunities and strengthen economic engagement with overseas Pakistanis.

The event was attended by a large number of overseas Pakistanis and served as a platform to reaffirm the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to its diaspora while promoting the Roshan Digital Account (RDA) as a comprehensive financial gateway for investment, savings, financing, and charitable giving. Participants were also briefed on emerging Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) opportunities across various sectors of Pakistan’s economy.

Addressing the gathering, Senator Amir Waliuddin Chishti, Chairman Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, underscored the critical role of overseas Pakistanis in the country’s economic development and national progress. He lauded the contributions of the Pakistani diaspora and emphasized that overseas Pakistanis remain one of Pakistan’s greatest assets, contributing significantly through remittances, investments, expertise, and international outreach.

Senator Chishti highlighted the importance of creating stronger institutional mechanisms to facilitate diaspora investment and engagement, noting that initiatives such as the Roshan Digital Account have opened new avenues for overseas Pakistanis to participate directly in Pakistan’s economic growth. He encouraged the diaspora to take advantage of investment opportunities and continue playing an active role in supporting the country’s development agenda.

The event was also addressed by Mr. Haseeb bin Aziz, Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan to the United Kingdom, and Mr. Zafar Masud, President and CEO of The Bank of Punjab, who outlined the government’s efforts to enhance financial inclusion for overseas Pakistanis and showcased the diverse investment opportunities available in Pakistan.

The participants appreciated the initiative and welcomed continued engagement between the Government of Pakistan, financial institutions, and the overseas Pakistani community to unlock the full potential of diaspora capital for sustainable economic growth.
