Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening its longstanding and friendly relations with Italy during an informal discussion with Italy’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Ms Marilina Armellin, at a reception marking the 80th National Day of the Italian Republic.
Extending congratulations to the Government and people of Italy on behalf of the Senate and people of Pakistan, he described Italy as a trusted friend and emphasized that bilateral ties are built on mutual respect, shared interests, and cooperation on regional and international issues.
The Chairman Senate highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, growing trade and investment, and appreciated Italy’s support for Pakistan’s GSP+ status and development cooperation in healthcare, education, and sanitation.
Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani also commended Ambassador Marilina Armellin for her efforts in promoting bilateral relations and expressed confidence that Pakistan Italy friendship and cooperation would continue to grow in the years ahead.
Chairman Senate cut a commemorative cake and conveyed best wishes to the Government and people of Italy.
