Misbah Khar emphasizes Promotion of Electric Vehicles and Green Initiatives Emphasized at “Breathe Pakistan” Forum

Misbah Khar, Advisor to the Chairman Senate and Ambassador to the ISC, underscored the urgent need to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in Pakistan while addressing participants at the “Breathe Pakistan” forum today.  She stated that transitioning to climate-friendly transport is essential to combat air pollution, reduce carbon emissions, and ensure a sustainable future.

Misbah Khar highlighted the importance of coordinated initiatives to promote environmentally friendly vehicles, including policy incentives, development of EV infrastructure, and fostering public-private partnerships. She further noted that such measures would not only improve urban air quality but also reduce dependence on imported fuels and contribute to economic growth.

The “Breathe Pakistan” forum, organized by DawnMedia in collaboration with key partners including the United Nations, Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives Pakistan, and Asian Development Bank, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, environmental experts, and developmentday partners to deliberate on actionable strategies for sustainable mobility and environmental protection.

Participants emphasized that the transition to electric mobility is critical for addressing environmental challenges and achieving Pakistan’s climate commitments. The role of the private sector, including Capital Smart Motors, was acknowledged in promoting EV adoption and advancing green transport solutions.

Speakers at the forum stressed the need for a comprehensive policy framework to support EV adoption through incentives, expansion of charging infrastructure, and awareness campaigns. Integrating renewable energy, sustainable urban planning, and green financing mechanisms was also highlighted as essential for long-term environmental sustainability.

The event, held at Serena Hotel, concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen collaboration and implement practical solutions for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Pakistan.
