Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has emphasized the urgent need for collective national and global efforts to eradicate hunger, ensure food security, and promote sustainable agricultural practices, in his message on World Food Day.
The Chairman Senate underscored that access to adequate and nutritious food is a fundamental human right, not a privilege, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal of “Zero Hunger.”
Mr. Gilani called for strengthened collaboration among government institutions, the private sector, civil society, and international partners to address challenges such as climate change, population growth, and rising food costs. He urged policymakers and stakeholders to prioritize investment in rural development, agricultural innovation, and equitable food distribution systems.
He further added that ensuring every citizen has access to safe and nutritious food is essential for building a healthy, productive, and prosperous Pakistan. “Let us reaffirm our commitment to a hunger-free world where every human being can live with dignity,” he concluded.
