Today, we acknowledge the vital role that our young generation plays in shaping the future of our planet. This is a momentous opportunity for our youth to engage in initiatives that contribute to a greener and more sustainable world.
We recognize that the youth of today are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but also the change-makers of today. By fostering green skills and sustainable practices among our youth, we empower them to become active participants in addressing pressing environmental challenges. Let us work together to cultivate a generation that is well-prepared to tackle environmental issues and create a harmonious balance between economic growth and ecological preservation.
It is astounding that while the youth make up a significant percentage of our population, Pakistan's carbon emissions are less than one percent of the global total. Despite this minimal contribution, we find ourselves among the top 10 countries in the world most threatened by climate change. This alarming reality underscores the urgency of the theme for Pakistan. Our youth must be equipped with green skills that empower them to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change and contribute to sustainable solutions.
On this International Youth Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to supporting our youth in their journey towards a sustainable world. By investing in their education, training, and development, we are investing in the prosperity and longevity of our planet. I encourage governments, organizations, and communities to unite in providing opportunities that foster green skills and promote sustainability.
