Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani on Tuesday met with the President of the Turkish Red Crescent, Dr Kerem Kinik in Istanbul, Turkiye and enlightened him about the cataclysm caused by the recent flood in Balochistan and Sindh province of Pakistan.
Chairman Senate underlined that the People in Balochistan and Sindh are in a state of chaos and disarray due to the devastation caused by the flood.
Flood affectees are in dire need of medicines, food and other necessary items of daily use, he stated, adding that International organizations need to take steps for immediate relief operations in flood-affected areas. Disasters of such kind can only be combated with the cooperation of the international community, he observed.
“Disaster management agencies of both countries should benefit from each other's experiences in dealing with natural disasters, furthermore, International institutional cooperation is essential to address the threat of climate change”, he stressed.
Sanjrani hailed the prominent role of the Turkish Red Crescent in public welfare and relief operations in Pakistan. The government of Turkiye has helped Pakistan in every difficult time, he added.
Turkiye and Pakistan Red Crescent have played an effective role with regard to the problems being faced by Afghan refugees, he said.
The president of the Turkish Red Crescent, Dr Kerem Kinik expressed his determination to continue cooperation with the government of Pakistan in dealing with the flood situation.
