Event Title: Senator Muhammad Tahir Bizenjo was presiding over a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges on 4th July 2022, at Parliament House.

A meeting of the Senate Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges was held under the chairmanship of Senator Muhammad Tahir Bizenjo at the Parliament House today.

The privilege motion filed by Senator Irfan Siddiqui against former Director General, Radio Pakistan and current Director General (Cyber Wing) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Muhammad Asim Khichi was discussed. Ministry officials presented the FIA investigation report in the committee regarding the malicious propaganda campaign initiated against Senator Irfan Siddiqui.

Senator Irfan Siddiqui said, "Since the issue of cutting of trees is being looked into by the Senate's Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting, which has also set up a special inquiry committee on it, I do not want to press on with the privilege motion any further." The committee decided that the report provided by the FIA Cyber Wing be sent to the Ministry of Information for necessary action and to inform in the next meeting of the committee as to what action it has taken against the employees indentifed in the investigative report. Senator Irfan Siddiqui said, "I prefer the privilege of trees over my personal privilege." All the attending members of the committee supported the proposal of Senator Irfan Siddiqui. Former Director General of Radio Pakistan, Muhammad Asim Khichi thanked Senator Irfan Siddiqui and other committee members for not pressing on with the privilege motion. While sending the FIA investigative report to the Ministry of Information for further necessary action, Chairman Committee disposed off the proceedings on the privilege motion.

The committee meeting was attended by Senator Mian Raza Rabbani, Senator Sarfraz Bugti, Senator Irfan Siddiqui and officials of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
