Event Title: Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani has condemned the killing of a Sri Lankan citizen

Event Date: 2021-12-03

ISLAMABAD (December 3, 2021): Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani has condemned the killing of a Sri Lankan citizen by an angry mob in Sialkot.  The Chairman Senate said that such incidents have no place in Islamic teachings, national traditions and national laws.  Islam teaches tolerance and forbearance while the Constitution of Pakistan also does not allow such actions.  The incident has been strongly condemned by the conscious sections of the society, religious scholars and political leaders.  Relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka have been based on mutual trust and deep friendship for decades. Such extremism in the name of religion cannot be tolerated.  This incident is not only against our national traditions but also very heartbreaking and tragic.  Relevant agencies should immediately arrest those responsible and bring them to justice.  The incident deserves serious condemnation from Pakistan's Parliament and the nation.
