The Research Cell provides the much needed research and information support to the members of the Senate in a non-partisan, precise and timely manner. In this regard, the Research Cell prepares position papers, policy briefs and analysis, background documents, concept papers, fact sheets, speeches, talking points etc., on wide-ranging issues from purely legislative and policy-making to matters of national, provincial, geo-strategic and regional/ international importance. In addition to preparing country reports and briefs for Senate delegations participating in inter-parliamentary forums such as IPU, CPA, NATO Parliamentary Assembly etc., the Research Cell also compiles Senate News, a quarterly publication, containing news and articles of interest to Senators and the parliamentary staff. It remains a constant endeavour with the Research Cell to raise and optimize its performance in terms of product quality and precision to internationally set standards, thereby making it distinguishable among world parliamentary research services through the hallmark of excellence.
