SUBJECT:   REPORT OF VISIT OF SENATOR SHUJA-UL-MULK AT DRY BATTERY ASSOCIATION, KARACHI, MEMBER OF SUB-COMMITTEE ON COMMERCE.

 

                   As decided in the   meeting of the Sub-Committee on Commerce held on 11th November, 2008, the Honourable Senator Shuja-ul-Mulk, Member of Senate Sub-Committee on Commerce visited Karachi in the last week of November 2008 for investigating the authenticity of the Pakistan Dry Battery Manufacturers Association, Karachi. The findings of the Senator are as follows:-

Findings:

(i)                All the units of the said Association are closed. There is no production or activities going on through this Association.  The office was closed, therefore, the required information i.e. income tax, and number of Regional Offices etc. could not be ascertained.

(ii)              It is obviously a non-functional association which exists only on paper. The Sub-Committee on Commerce should take appropriate action in the matter.
