The meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior was held on Friday at Old PIPS Hall Parliament Lodges Islamabad. Chaired by Senator Mohsin Aziz the meeting was attended by Leader of the Opposition Senator Yousuf Raza Gillani, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, Senator Saifullah Abro, Senator Samina Mumtaz, Senator Faisal Saleem Rehman, Senator Shahdat Awan, Senator Fawzia Arshad, Senator Seemi Ezdi, Senator Faisal Ali Sabzwari,Senator Ahmed Khan and senior officers from the Ministry of Interior, Capital Development Authority,Sindh and Punjab Police along with all concerned.
The meeting commenced with a message of hope towards the COVID 19 situation in Pakistan after which the agenda was taken up. The Committee took up and passed the Bills Pakistan Arms (Amendment) Bill 2021 moved by the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and the Islamabad Rent Restriction Amendment Bill, 2020 moved by Senator Seemi Ezdi. The Islamabad Capital Territory Food Safety Bill 2020 moved by Senator Fawzia Arshad was pended and a Special Committee was constituted for further deliberation.
While taking up Public Petitions an appeal from overseas Pakistanis to save their life savings was heard and CDA was directed to submit a complete report within 10 days with complete details. The case of an unauthorized encroachment on a farm house near Dargah Shah Mirpur Sakro, was disposed off. In the case of the investigation of Mr. Lahore’s murder the Punjab Police was directed to submit an inquiry report within six to eight weeks, Senator Kauda Babar was nominated Member Real Estate Regulatory Authority.
