Parliamentary Committee to protect minorities from forced conversions scheduled in its meeting on Friday adopted Rules of Procedures for the Parliamentary Committee and discussed possible avenues of moving forward in the administrative approach. The Committee met under the chairmanship of Senator Anwar ul Haq Kakar here at the Parliament House on Friday and was attended by members from both Houses of Parliament. The Committee members deliberated upon taking a few cases as case studies and exploring them in detail to identify key areas where gaps need to filled and measures need to be taken to improve the administrative structures so that citizens belonging to minorities are not forced to convert to any other religion. The Committee members agreed that the issue of forced conversions is not religious but social and needs to be curbed by strengthening our weak areas. The Committee also decided to take input and data from provincial departments and other experts.
