Senate House Committee in its meeting on Tuesday was told that appointment of consultant for construction of 104 family suites of Senators in the Parliament Lodges will be completed by August 5 and update on the matter will be shared with the Committee.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Chairman Senate Saleem Mandviwalla here at the Parliament House and was attended among others by Senators Kalsoom Parveen, Yousaf Badini, Sardar Shafiq Tareen, Fida Muhammad Kauda Babar.
The Committee directed the CDA to complete all remaining formalities in this time frame so that once the consultant is finalised work can be expedited. CDA was asked to share details of project work with the Planning commission so that the process of release of necessary funds is also initiated. It was also directed that time extensions if required of any phase of project may also be sought from the relevant authority.
The Committee also discussed compliance of previous recommendations given by the Committee. Regarding lack of compliance by MCI on questions asked as to whether they are willing to work for Parliament Lodges maintenance or not, the Committee decided to call a last meeting with Chief Municipal Officer of MCI and Director Lodges CDA to reach a solution. Matters of release of budget for lodges, dilapidated condition of some suites, and u-plan of 83 suites in use of Senators were also discussed.
