Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, while presiding over meeting of the Board of Governors (BoG) Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services( PIPS), has underscored the need for injecting more dynamism in the institution to improve institutional efficiency of PIPS and introduce specialized courses on parliamentary services. He said that specialized and mandatory courses would be introduced for not only the employees of the federal government departments and organizations but provincial government services would also be included in these mandatory courses.
The meeting was attended by a number of board members including Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri, Leader of the House in the Senate Syed Shibli Faraz, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Muhammad Azam Khan Swati, Senator Sherry Rehman, Javed Abbasi, Ms. Nafeesa Inayat Ullah Khan Khattak, MNA, Ms. Shahida Akhtar Ali, MNA, Mr. Amjad Ali Khan, MNA.
The President BoG, Senator Sadiq Sanjrani, said that the legislators need research and accurate data to perform their legislative role effectively. He directed the Institute to design courses for to deepen their understanding about the rule and function of the Parliamentary Institutions in the country to ensure that not only such courses are introduced at PIPS but modules of the Institutes offering mandatory trainings to the federal and provincial government employees be amended accordingly.
Acting Executive Director PIPS briefed the members about the progress of activities and apprised about the future course of action to serve the National Parliament and Provincial Legislature in a better way.
The Chairman Senate/ President PIPS BoG appreciated the contributions made by the members during the meeting and thanked them again for their participation.
