Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E Mr. Stefano Pontecorvo made a courtesy call on Deputy Chairman Senate, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla in his Chamber at Parliament House on Tuesday and exchanged views over trade and other bilateral issues. Atrocity in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) and cross-border situation between Pakistan and India came under discussion as well.
Ambassador, H.E Mr. Stefano Pontecorvo was of the view that it was time that Pakistan made its case to the world and that the Balakot incident has presented the country with an excellent opportunity.
While discussing Italian trade and investment opportunities in Pakistan Deputy Chairman Senate, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla said that currently business between the two countries is worth a mere 1.5 billion USD, which must be expanded. Ambassador, H.E Mr. Stefano Pontecorvo while agreeing; said that trade between the two countries has doubled, since he was appointed Ambassador to Pakistan.
Deputy Chairman, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla assured the Ambassador of facilitating Italian businesses in Pakistan and said that it will go a long way in strengthening ties between the two countries.
Deputy Chairman Senate, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla emphasized the need to extend Parliamentary exchanges between Italy and Pakistan and said that a Parliamentary Friendship Group will visit the Italian Parliament soon. Ambassador H.E Mr. Stefano Pontecorvo thanked the Deputy Chairman Senate, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla for his hospitality and said that he looked forward to developing stronger links between the two countries.
