Senate Standing Committee on Aviation in its meeting has been assured by Chairman PIA that a draft of Standard Operating Procedures for blind passengers will be shared with the committee before next meeting that will be followed by not just PIA but also private airlines through the Aviation Division.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Senator Mushahidullah Khan here at the Parliament House on Thursday and was attended among others by Senator Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah, Senator Behramand Khan Tangi, Senator Muhammad Azam Khan Swati, Senator Shaheen Khalid Butt, Chairman PIA Air Marshal Arshad Malik and officials from Aviation Division and PIA. The matter was moved by Senator Azam Swati on the difficulties faced by special persons travelling on PIA and private Pakistani airlines.
The meeting also discussed the point of public importance raised by Senator Behramand Tangi regarding corruption in the project of New Islamabad International Airport and after detailed discussion asked the Aviation division to submit details of the FIA inquiry, detail of hearing and information as to why all persons involved were not questioned and how the inquiry was closed.
The Committee took details of all cases of PIA employees who have been recently dismissed from service by the PIA management and decided to discuss the matter after scruitnising the documents.
