Senate Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges

Senate Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges in its meeting on Tuesday has asked the Chief Secretary Sindh to ensure his presence in the next meeting of the Committee regarding the matter of breach of privilege of Chairman Senate as acting president of Pakistan in September 2017. The Committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Senate Jehanzeb Jamaldini here at the Parliament House and was attended among others by Senators Atta-ur-Rehman, Zahida Khan, Secretary parliamentary affairs, secretary petroleum division, commissioner Karachi and DG Protocol Sindh.

Chief Secretary Sindh is being called to the meeting of the committee for the last three meetings and the Committee observed today that the matter is not just a breach of privilege of acting president but of this Parliamentary Committee as well. The members of the Committee decided to call Chief Secretary Sindh as a last chance after which the matter will be sent to the House. Establishment Division was also directed to ensure that the meeting is attended by Chief Secretary.

The Committee was told regarding the breach of privilege of House by petroleum division that Rashid Sultan assumed to be a representative of World Bank is a legal consultant and contractual employee of petroleum division and is not connected to the World Bank. The Committee having given assurance from Secretary Petroleum disposed off the matter.

The Committee was also told that the remaining documents relating to development work carries out in NA-21 since 2013 by Pak-PWD, Hazara Division asked by Senator Azam Khan Swati have been provided to the mover who is now examining them.
