Leader of the House in Senate, Senator Raja Zafar-ul-Haq has said that it is only a matter of time when sense prevails and oppression in Indian Held Kashmir is defeated through the struggles of Kashmiri people, diplomacy, democracy and rule of law. He further said that Kashmir and Palestine disputes somehow remained unresolved when a multitude of colonies gained independence in last many decades. He remarked that senseless and barbaric violation of human rights will not linger on forever.

He was speaking at a seminar on “The New Intifada in Indian Occupied Kashmir: A Review” at the Institute of Strategic Studies here on Monday. He said that because of the ill-intent and unjust lobbying by Indians, Kashmiri people never got the right of self-determination, a basic right acknowledged previously the United Nations Security Council.

Raja Zafar-ul Haq observed that the new intifada in occupied Kashmir is not just a result of certain recent events, but is testimony to the longstanding human rights violations that are now coming to the boil.

He said that the violent and aggressive behavior relating to Kashmir after the Uri attack and murder of Burhan Wani Shaheed only shows how volatile this occupation has become. The use of pellet guns, teargas shells, rubber bullets, assault rifles have killed over 84 civilians, injuring and blinding thousands.

Senator Raja Zafar-ul-Haq said that for a country that claims to be a democracy, the actions of Indian government in Kashmir are anything but democratic and the issue has now started to gain an unprecedented momentum in international arena.

The seminar was also addressed by Ambassador Khalid Mehmood, Chairman ISSI, Ahmed Qureshi, ED YFK, Senator Lt. Gen. (R) Abdul Qayyum, Ahmer Bilal Soofi, ABS &Co, MNA Mir Muhammad Ali, Shaista Safi, lobbyist YFK among others.
